HKSYU rises in QS Asia University Rankings, management appreciates the hard work of colleagues in research

According to the 2025 Asia University Rankings released by the International Higher Education Information Service (QS), Hong Kong Shue Yan University ranked 342, up from 351st to 400th last year. The management of the University was very encouraged and thanked all stakeholders for their efforts.

Shue Yan “Path to Teaching Success” Seminar: Alumni Educators Guide Students Entering the Profession

On 4 September 2025, the Industrial Attachment Office and three academic departments jointly hosted the first “Path to Teaching Success” seminar. Alumni educators returned to campus to share their teaching experiences and provide guidance to students interested in the Education Concentration.

HKSYU FinTech and ADS Student Team Admitted to Cyberport University Partnership Programme for the First Time

FishGuard, the student entrepreneurship team from HKSYU, has been accepted into the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP) 2025. The team includes four Year 3 FinTech students and one ADS student, mentored by Dr Philip LEE, Associate Head of Department of Economics and Finance and Director of the BCom (Hons) in Financial Technology programme.

Oxford Summer Programme 2025: A Two-Week Cross-Cultural Journey

The Centre for Global Engagement at HKSYU co-hosted a summer programme in 2025 with Hertford College, University of Oxford. This summer, 25 students embarked on an exciting two-week study tour at Hertford College. They gained fresh perspectives on cultural, historical, economic, political, and social aspects, all while developing their academic and communication skills.

Rhine-Ruhr World University Games: Dr. Chow Tak-sang Represents Shue Yan at Flag Presentation Ceremony

The Rhine-Ruhr World University Games were held from 16 to 27 July 2025 in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region of Germany, with Hong Kong, sending 75 athletes to compete. Dr. Wu Wai-chung, encouraged all athletes to give their best, enjoy the experience, build friendships, and take pride in representing Hong Kong.

New Zealand Learning and Cultural Exchange Tour: Shue Yan Students Step Beyond the Classroom to Serve the Community

The Student Affairs Office, with support from the Youth Development Commission, organised the “New Zealand Learning Experience and Exchange Tour” from 8 to 19 June 2025. Under the arrangement of the Chinese Community Services Centre, 32 Shue Yan students and staff visited New Zealand to learn about local sustainability practices and participate in community service, deepening their awareness of environmental and social responsibility.

Shue Yan Sets New Record with 14 Research Projects Funded by RGC, Totalling Nearly HK$9 Million

HKSYU has once again achieved outstanding success in the 2025/26 Competitive Research Funding Scheme for the Local Self-Financing Degree Sector, administered by the RGC. The university secured funding for 14 FDS research projects, with a total award of nearly HK$9 million, both record highs in a single round since the scheme’s inception.

HKSYU Academics Develop Mobile App to Help Muslim Students Find Halal Food

HKSYU has welcomed a growing number of non-Chinese speaking students from diverse religious backgrounds. Dr Philip LEE Tin-yun partnered with Mr Bosco TSIN Hingyan to develop Islamic Compass HK. The mobile application helps users locate halal restaurants, prayer rooms, and hotels across the city, supporting Muslim students as they adapt to local life.

Hangzhou CPPCC National Day Gala: Shue Yan Faculty and Students Engage in Academic Exchange

On 19 September 2025, Professor Catherine Chan, Vice President (Academic) of Hong Kong Shue Yan University, led a group of more than 20 faculty members and students to attend the 76th National Day Gala. The delegation engaged in exchanges on the latest developments in teaching and learning.

13 Shue Yan Students Awarded HSBC Scholarships

A total of 13 students from HKSYU were awarded HSBC Scholarships in recognition of their academic achievements and contributions to the community. At the annual, Shue Yan students joined nearly 200 other awardees in celebrating the diamond jubilee of the HSBC Scholarship scheme.

In July 2025, the BCom (Hons.) in Financial Technology programme collaborated with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to launch the InsurTech Talent Nurturing Internship Scheme.

Lam Chak-fung, a graduating student from the Department of Counselling and Psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, completed a two-month internship in the summer of 2025 at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta.
