According to the 2025 Asia University Rankings released by the International Higher Education Information Service (QS), Hong Kong Shue Yan University ranked 342, up from 351st to 400th last year. The management of the University was very encouraged and thanked all stakeholders for their efforts.

Global academic platform Research.com has placed Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) 13th nationwide in the field of Psychology in its 2024 rankings of top universities by academic discipline.

HKSYU Academic Vice President, Professor Chan Ching utilize modern technology to allow the public to understand the Yulan Festival from all aspects and at the same time promote intangible cultural hertiage.

Mr. Lung Chee-ming, a member of the board of governors of HKSYU and a senior alumnus, was awarded the Sliver Bauhinia Star by HKSAR Government in recognition of his significant contributions to Hong Kong and his enthusiasm for public and social services.

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) opened its doors to the public during the Olympic Games as part of the University’s community initiatives.

"Fraud Prevention Seminar" for Mainland students was held on August 28 by OSA. The seminar was invited to the Anti-Deception Coordination Center (ADCC). Lecturer interacted with students through seminars, short videos and real cases to share the latest fraud techniques and anti-fraud infomation.

The National and Values Education (NAVE) Online Learning Platform, jointly developed by Hong Kong Shue Yan University and Tung Wah College, was officially launched on June 6, 2024. The platform is the first in Hong Kong to promote national, national security and values education to tertiary students through online interactive games.

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) proudly inaugurated the international conference titled “Advances in Play Therapy Research: An Intercultural Dialogue”  to share the contemporary development in the field of play therapy and its adaptation to the cultural context of Hong Kong.

Fully sponsored by the Hong Kong Hangzhou CPPCC Friendship Association, a group of 30 students from Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) took part in a Digital Humanities exchange tour to Hangzhou, China, from 14th to 18th May. 

The VR Lab Workshop at HKSYU was an engaging and immersive experience designed to introduce participants to the world of virtual reality (VR). The workshop consisted of two sessions, each focusing on a different aspect of VR development.

One of the best ways to understand the law, especially at a young age, is to observe it in action. The Moot Court at HKSYU serves as more than just a platform for teaching law and advocacy. It also offers the community a glimpse into how the law is practiced in court, inspiring young people who aspire to pursue a career in law.

Thanks to the generous support of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and Industrial Attachment Office (IAO) successfully organized the “Taiwan Indigenous Culture and Sustainable Community Development Service Learning Tour” in May. A total of 24 students took part in this 10-day program.

A Year 3 Psychology student from the Department of Counselling and Psychology of HKSYU, Mr Benjamin YING described his internship experience at NGO ImpactHK as incredibly unforgettable. He has gained a deeper understanding of the living conditions and challenges faced by Hong Kong’s homeless population.

SYU together with multiple esteem universities launched the "Hong Kong Older Adults Digital Living Study" to understand the use of information technology by the elderly.

The content of "Hong Kong Food Festival" collects historical and original information, in order to combine the perspectives of literature and tourism. It describes HK's old-style restaurants and leaves a historical record of HK's catering industry.

The lecture talked about the self-cultivation and characteristics of film directors and actors, allowing students who are interested, can better understand the current situation of the industry.

Guests at the conference, including psychologists from Australia, Singapore, Canada and Europe, as well as scholars from Hong Kong and Mainland China, shared their views on the mental health and brain neural changes of different age groups after the COVID-19 epidemic from a neuropsychological perspective.

Dr. Tong Suk Chong's project "Reviewing digital technology-driven marketing communications and future research" covers a total of six lectures and workshops to understand digital from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Since its dedication of promoting historial and cultural knowledge to the world, The Department of History co-organized a lecture with Public Governance Association and Tin Ka Ping Teaching and Research Centre for Filial Piety.

The Admissions Office of Hong Kong Shue Yan University has recently published an impressive admission brochure for the undergraduate programmes. This brochure has been picked as the Design Mark Winner in the "Golden Pin Design Award 2024", acknowledging the innovative design of the brochure.

SYU have nearly 1,500 new students this year, of which 80% are local students and the rest are international and Mainland students. This year's new students have achieved satisfactory entrance results, with the median admission score of the HKDSE remaining at 17.

Alumnus Man Hei Leung from the Department of Journalism and Communication of Hong Kong Shue Yan University won the ‘Award of Excellence’ in the ‘Daily Life’ category of the ‘Pictures of the Year Asia 2024’.

The Associated of Faculty of Commerce (AFC) of HKSYU has been invited to represent the Institute of Accountants Exchange (IAE) to participate in the “Guangdong Huizhou-Hong Kong Accountancy Invitation Tournament” from 25 to 26 November 2023, in which they were awarded the First Runner-up of the whole tournament.

Master Qian Shushen, who trained under the famous Tai Chi master Chung Tai Ching in the 1980's held a lecture and experiential activity on "Yi Lao Zhuang and Tai Chi".

The social science research team of HKSYU has released research results on young people's self-identity and "positive" and "lying down" mentalities, and found that the establishment of an appropriate "self-identity" plays an important role in motivating young people to lead an active life and help nurture the younger generation to contribute to society.

The Department of Law and Business of HKSYU, in partnership with the Hong Kong Schools Mooting and Mock Trial Association , organized the 4th Hong Kong Joint School Mediation Competition 2024 on 9 and 10 March.

The 34th Hong Kong Shue Yan University Athletic Games was held on 6 March at the Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground with the active participation of students, teachers and alumni from various departments.

The 2023/24 USFHK Annual Prize Presentation Ceremony was held on 14 April at the Jockey Club Auditorium of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prof. Cheung Siu-keung, Executive Vice President of HKSYU, attended the event as the guest of honour and participated in the flag handover ceremony.

In a heartening display of community engagement and creative collaboration, students from Hong Kong Shue Yan University Department of Counselling and Psychology stepped up to support the “I See, I Feel, I Hear – Lighten Our Darkness” exhibition, organized by St John’s Cathedral’s Life Enrichment Centre. Held over three days from February 23 to 25 at the bustling Central Market, this exhibition shone a spotlight on inclusivity through smartphone imagery.

The 2024 China Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau Enterprise Business Case Analysis Competition, jointly organized by the Commercial Chamber in China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) and the International Association for Business Management Simulation, was held on 23 March 2024 at the University of Hong Kong.

Twenty-five teams from the Peninsula Junior Chamber of Commerce (JCI) organised the "Make It Happen – Triumph in Marketing" marketing competition, with a total of 25 teams vying for the top five spots in the finals and the finals at Shue Yan University.

The Consulate General of Indonesia in Hong Kong met with the representatives  of SYU, and had an in-depth conversation on the cultural exchanges and further studies between students.

The HKSYU Career Fair 2024 was held from 27 February to 1 March with a total of 106  enterprises participating this year, involving more than 3,400 vacancies.

As the first teaching and research centre dedicated to filial piety in Hong Kong, the "Tin Ka Ping Teaching and Research Centre for Filial Piety" was inaugurated on 27 January 2024 at HKSYU.

On 27 January, the "Chinese Martial Arts and Sports Culture Communication" research project led by Dr Lee Ka-Man held a press conference on the results of the project. 

HKSYU partook the Education & Career Expo at Wan Chai HKCEC. The theme of this year's booth is "Direction for Tomorrow", which aims to guide students to develop their own direction based on their unique personality and abilities, and at the same time enjoy learning to move towards a rich life.

Over HKD4.85 milion scholarships was distributed to HKSYU 202 students under Self-Financing Post-Secondary Education Fund by HKSAR Government in 2024.

Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) launched the International Foundation Year Programme (IFYP), the first pre-university certificate in Hong Kong, in 2024. The program aims to provide overseas secondary school students with opportunities for further studies.
