Currently, we offer articulation opportunities for sub-degree holders. Admitted students will be granted special advanced credits for directly entering the second year of the bachelor programme.

The Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) accepts applications from graduates of locally accredited Associate Degree or Higher Diploma programmes in relevant disciplines from institutions in Hong Kong or equivalent for direct entry to Year 2 / Year 3 of selected Bachelor’s programmes. For sub-degree holders of overseas or other non-accredited institutions, please refer to 'Other Applicants' page. Eligible applicants of locally accredited sub-degree programmes, please note the following admission details:

 

Students who are taking / have taken any locally accredited Associate Degree / Higher Diploma should have completed the first year’s study with a GPA of 2.5 or above can apply. Applicants will be requested for admission interview if needed.

Final year students and graduates of locally accredited Associate Degree or Higher Diploma programmes in relevant disciplines from institutions in Hong Kong can apply. Applicants will be requested for admission interview if needed.

Final year students and graduates of locally accredited Associate Degree or Higher Diploma programmes from institutions in Hong Kong, in discipline(s) highly related to History, Chinese, Journalism & Communication, Media Design and Technology, Accounting, Business Administration, Corporate Governance and Risk Management, Digital Marketing, Human Resources Management, Economics and Finance, Financial Technology, Law and Administration, Psychology or Sociology can apply. Applicants will be requested for admission interview if needed.

Sub-degree candidates of current year can apply for our undergraduate programmes through our online portal through February to April every year. Applicants who choose to submit their application in person should present the following supporting documents to the Admissions Office:
1. A completed application form with a photo securely attached; and
2. HKID card (both original and copy); and
3. A non-refundable application fee of HK$200 in cash; and
4. Submission of proof of academic qualification as follows:

  • - Transcript of Associate Degree / Higher Diploma (both original and copy); and
  • - An official letter of completion (both original and copy) - for Direct Year-two / Year-three Entry applicants only;
  • - Programme structure of Associate Degree / Higher Diploma (including all compulsory and elective courses offered by the Programme) - for Direct Year-two / Year-three Entry applicants only;
  • - Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination Result Notice (in both original and copy), if applicable;
  • - Secondary School reports in Form 4 – 6 (both original and copy), if applicable.

Full-time local undergraduate students under the age of 30 are eligible to apply for Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP), a scheme offered by the government to provide means-tested financial assistance which can include grants (tuition fee and learning expenses) and/or low-interest loans to help meet living expenses. Students can apply for FASP after registration.

From the 2017/18 academic year, the government provides a non-means-tested annual subsidy for eligible students pursuing full-time locally-accredited local and non-local self-financing undergraduate (including top-up degree) programmes in Hong Kong offered by eligible institutions (except for those enrolled in places already supported under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors). All undergraduate programmes (excluding programme for Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Financial Technology and BA/BSC (Honours) in Economics collaborated with University of Leicester, U.K.) offered by the University are eligible under the subsidy scheme.

Eligibility:
Under the Subsidy Scheme, a non-means-tested annual subsidy will be provided to Hong Kong students:

  • (a) Local students admitted to eligible first-year-first-degree programmes, regardless of whether they have attained the "3322" requirement in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, will be eligible for the NMTSS.; or
  • (b) For students admitted to eligible top-up degree programmes.

HKSYU Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Financial Technology has been included in the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP). The Government announced on 20.9.2022 that the subsidy amounts of SSSDP in the 2023/24 academic year will be HK$44,950. The places of the subsidised undergraduate programmes under SSSDP will be allocated mainly through JUPAS. Target applicants are HKDSE students. 

1. iFREE Entrance Scholarship for the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Digital Marketing programme

Starting from the academic year 2019/20, iFREE GROUP (HK) LTD will make available an annual entrance scholarship of HK$1,000,000 for new students admitted to Year 1 of the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Digital Marketing (BBA-DM) programme. Each year, a maximum of 50 scholarships of HKD20,000 each will be made available.

2. Longbow Charity Foundation Entrance Scholarship for Commerce majors

Funded by the Longbow Charity Foundation Limited, HKSYU will be offering an entrance scholarship for new local students admitted to Year 1 of selected Bachelor’s programmes in the Faculty of Commerce. Each recipient will be awarded HK$10,000. This scholarship aims at encouraging local students who have an enthusiastic interest in the world of commerce to become substantial contributors and future leaders.

Local students who are admitted directly to Year 2 and have achieved a total GPA of 2.5 or above (out of a 4-point system) in their AD/HD studies will be eligible for the entrance scholarship. An entrance scholarship will be awarded to successful applicants on the basis of the total GPA score attained in the AD/HD programme. Such collaboration facilitates credit transfer arrangement and we will consider their Associate Degree (AD)/Higher Diploma (HD) graduates of selected programmes for direct entry into Year 2 and Year 3 in related Bachelor’s programmes at HKSYU. Specific admission and Programme seminars will be held for our partner institutions and those applicants can enjoy early-bird and free applications in the online application period from February to April.

The University has adopted Common Block Credit Transfer (CBCT) arrangement for the admission of AD/HD graduates articulating to Year 2. The CBCT framework for Year 2 Entry is as follows:

  • -the no. of BCT for Year 2 Entry is equivalent to the no. of required credits in the Year 1 curriculum in the 4-year curriculum of the relevant HKSYU programme;
  • -students will be required to complete CHI102 First Year Chinese II plus Core courses and Departmental elective credits (if any) in Year 2 to Year 4 curriculum, together with free elective credits to complete the total number of credits required for graduation.
  • -students will be exempted from the General Education requirement.

1.CBCT will be granted to an eligible AD/HD graduate who is designated as a Year 3 student upon admission. The maximum number of BCT for Year 3 Entry is 50% of the total credits required for completion of a programme;

2.Students will be required to complete CHI102 First Year Chinese II (4 credits) and ENG212 English Writing II (3 credits) in 

- Summer term prior to the commencement of Year 3 (offered in intensive mode); or

- Second semester of Year 3; or

- Summer term prior to the commencement of Year 4 (offered in intensive mode).

 

3.Upon completion of the Language Requirements listed in point 2 above, students will be required to complete the core courses and required credits for Departmental electives in the Year 3 to Year 4 curriculum of the HKSYU Bachelor’s degree, together with free elective credits to complete the total number of credits required for graduation;


4.Students will be exempted from the GE requirement.
