Final year students and graduates of locally accredited Associate Degree or Higher Diploma programmes from institutions in Hong Kong, in discipline(s) highly related to History, Chinese language and literature, English, Journalism & Communication, Media Design and Technology, Accounting, Business Administration, Digital Marketing, Human Resources Management, Economics and Finance, Financial Technology, Law and Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Applied Data Science and Arts, Culture & Technology and with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above at graduation can apply.
Applicants for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Data Science programme should obtain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

Non-Means-Tested Subsidy Scheme

From the 2017/18 academic year, the government provides a non-means-tested annual subsidy for eligible students pursuing full-time locally-accredited local and non-local self-financing undergraduate (including top-up degree) programmes in Hong Kong offered by eligible institutions. All undergraduate programmes* offered by the University are eligible under the subsidy scheme.
*Please note that students admitted to the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) funded degrees, including the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Financial Technology and the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Data Science will not be able to benefit from this scheme. -
Eligibility:
Under the Subsidy Scheme, the following students can apply for the non-means-tested annual subsidy:- (a) Local students admitted to eligible self-financing first-year-first-degree programmes; or
- (b) Local students admitted to eligible top-up degree programmes.
Notes:
- 1. The amount of subsidy is approximately HK$30,000, which may be adjusted annually with the approval of the Legislative Council.
- 2. Non-local students, students already attained any Bachelor’s degree or above qualifications, and students enrolling in any subsidised undergraduate or sub-degree programmes are not eligible for the NMTSS.

Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors
HKSYU's Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Financial Technology and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Data Science have been included in the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP). The Government announced in September 2024 that the subsidy amounts of SSSDP in the 2025/26 academic year will be HK$46,780. The places of the subsidised undergraduate programmes under SSSDP will be allocated mainly through JUPAS.
Entrance Scholarship for Year 2 Entry
Local students who are admitted directly to Year 2 and have achieved a total GPA of 3.0 or above in their AD/HD studies will be eligible for the entrance scholarship. Such collaboration facilitates credit transfer arrangement and we will consider their Associate Degree (AD)/Higher Diploma (HD) graduates of selected programmes for direct entry into Year 2 and Year 3 in related Bachelor’s programmes at HKSYU. Specific admission and Programme seminars will be held for our partner institutions and those applicants can enjoy early-bird and free applications in the online application period.
The University has adopted the Common Block Credit Transfer (CBCT) arrangement for the admission of sub-degree graduates articulating to Year 2 of most SYU programmes. The CBCT framework for Year 2 Entry is as follows:
1. The no. of credits transferred for the Year 2 Entry is equivalent to the no. of credits required in Year 1 of the 4-Year programme curriculum;
2. Students must complete language required courses, Departmental required core and elective courses, and other required electives before graduation to fulfill the programme credit requirements.
3. Students will be exempted from taking the General Education requirement.
CBCT is not applicable to the following programmes which lead to professional recognition. Respective departments will assess the academic qualifications of individual applicants. Students might need to take additional courses to fulfill the qualification requirements of the professional bodies:
- -Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting
- -Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Counselling and Psychology
- -Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology
Applicants should apply for a programme related to a discipline which they studied at the sub-degree level.
1. Students admitted directly to Year 3 must complete at least 50% of the total number of credits required for the award of the degree at HKSYU;
2. CBCT will be granted to an eligible sub-degree graduate who is designated as a Year 3 student upon admission. The maximum number of BCT for Year 3 Entry is 50% of the total credits required for completion of a programme;
3. Students must complete language required courses*, Departmental required core and elective courses, and other required electives before graduation to fulfill the programme credit requirements.
4. Students will be exempted from taking the General Education requirement.
5. Some SYU degree programmes specify a list of foundation courses in the first two years in the major discipline that form the basis of the courses in the senior years. The relevant departments may design a Year 3 Entry Scheme for students admitted directly into Year 3. The Programme may comprise departmental core and elective courses.
*Students will be required to complete CHI102 First Year Chinese II (4 credits) and ENG212 English Writing II (3 credits) in
- Summer term prior to the commencement of Year 3 (offered in intensive mode); or
- Second semester of Year 3; or
- Summer term prior to the commencement of Year 4 (offered in intensive mode).
B) CBCT is not applicable to the following programmes which lead to professional recognition. Respective departments will assess the academic qualifications of individual applicants. Students might need to take additional courses to fulfil the qualification requirements of the professional bodies:
