“Seeing is Creating: Textual-Visual Narrative of Hong Kong Children’s Literature” Exhibition
“Do you like pictures?”
We have always been taught about the beauty and importance of words, but we are also now living in a world that is heavily dominated by visual culture. So, what do words and pictures mean to us? Among the various genres of literature, Children’s books, in particular, often feature illustrations. Dr. Michelle Chan of the Department of English and Literature has organized an exhibition: “Seeing is Creating: Textual-Visual Narrative of Hong Kong Children’s Literature”. This exhibition includes copies of magazines, books, and booklets from different eras, showcasing the manifold collaborations between pictures and texts in Hong Kong Children’s Literature. By exploring these texts, we hope our visitors gain a better understanding and appreciation for the creativity and significance of both narratives in storytelling.
