Internship Experiences Sharing

(只限英文版本)

A Year 3 Psychology student from the Department of Counselling and Psychology of Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Mr Benjamin YING described his internship experience at NGO ImpactHK as incredibly unforgettable. He has gained a deeper understanding of the living conditions and challenges faced by Hong Kong’s homeless population, and learned how to effectively plan and execute public welfare projects.

As an assistant in the Projects Department, Benjamin’s main responsibilities included assisting project managers in planning and executing initiatives to support the homeless, maintaining the daily operations of these projects, collecting and compiling project data, as well as providing administrative support.

Benjamin emphasised his psychological knowledge, which contributed to organising multiple workshops to help homeless individuals develop deeper self-awareness. Benjamin also dedicated time each week to support individual homeless clients, by listening to their needs, difficulties, and sharing their challenges with colleagues to find solutions collaboratively.

Speaking of the value of the internship, Benjamin felt a profound sense of purpose and value working at an NGO. Most importantly, he believes the internship at ImpactHK has laid a solid foundation for his future career in the social impact sector, and the knowledge and skills he has acquired will undoubtedly contribute to his professional development.

ImpactHK was founded in 2017, dedicated to serving the city’s homeless population, with the objective of helping the homeless settle in a safe home and reintegrate into society.
