The Department Economics and Finance was founded in 1977. Its Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and Finance was accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications in 2004, and was restructured into a four-year programme in 2009 under the name BA (Honours) in Economics and Finance.
The programme aims to cultivate students with a solid understanding of economic theories and an ability to apply this knowledge in various decision-making situations. Aside from fully grasping the nuances of social sciences, graduates will become familiar with the major fields in economics and finance as well as its analytical tools. Recently the Department is offering:

2. Master of Philosophy in Economics Programme
3. Doctor of Philosophy in Economics Programme
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and Finance programme adopts a broad-based approach to Economics and Finance education. The programme emphasizes on real-world issues and problems, and it strives a balance between quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and Finance programme's Courses can be classified as four areas: Economics Courses, Finance Courses and Quantitative Courses.

Internship is an elective course for Year 4 students in this programme. The duration is 10-12 weeks (1-2 days per week). The minimum number of hours required is 80 hours.
We prepare graduates to work in a wide range of jobs, including finance, insurance, banking, management, procurement, marketing, advertising and civil service. Our gradautes can also pursue postgraduate studies in Master's Degree programmes, including economics, finance and business administration.
Graduates can study MPhil/PhD in Economics programmes offered by our University. They can also pursue postgraduate studies in Master's Degree programmes, including economics, finance and business administration at local or overseas universities.
Students participated in Internship experienced working in professional settings in accountancy, financial planning, learning agency and social enterprise.
