Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (NMTSS) (For Local Students only)
Starting from the 2017/18 academic year, the Government provides a non-means-tested annual subsidy for eligible students pursuing full-time locally-accredited local and non-local self-financing undergraduate (including top-up degree) programmes in Hong Kong (save for those enrolled in places already supported under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors) offered by eligible institutions. All undergraduate programmes (excluding programme for BA/BSc (Honours) in Economics collaborated with University of Leicester, U.K.) offered by Hong Kong Shue Yan University are eligible for subsidy under the NMTSS. More details are located at: https://www.cspe.edu.hk/en/nmt/index.html.
Eligibility
Under the Subsidy Scheme, a non-means-tested annual subsidy1 will be provided to Hong Kong students:
(a) attaining at least “3322” in the Hong Kong Diploma for Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) (i.e. level 3 for Chinese Language and English Language and level 2 for Mathematics Compulsory Part and Liberal Studies) when they are enrolled in eligible self-financing undergraduate programmes; or
(b) with sub-degree qualifications2 (i.e. after completing relevant locally-accredited Associate Degree or Higher Diploma programmes) when they are enrolled in eligible self-financing top-up degree programmes.
The following students are NOT eligible for subsidy:
(a) students who have already obtained degree qualifications; or
(b) students who are enrolling in any subsidised undergraduate or sub-degree programme (such as University Grants Committee-funded programmes, subvented programmes of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and SSSDP subsidised places).
1 The amount of subsidy may be adjusted annually in accordance with the movement of the Composite Consumer Price Index subject to the announcement made by the Education Bureau.
2 Under the current Subsidy Scheme, sub-degree holders admitted to Year 1 without attaining at least “3322” in the HKDSE are considered ineligible.
